Annenberg Classroom (www.AnnenbergClassroom.org) and Sunnylands
Classroom (www.sunnylandsclassroom.org) offer classroom-ready civics
education resources from the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of
Pennsylvania and the Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands at no cost. A
rich set of teaching aids on the Constitution helps educators and government

the U.S. Constitution for Constitution Day (September 17). Educators can find
award-winning films and supplementary lesson plans; “Ask a Supreme Court
Justice,” featuring answers from Supreme Court Justices to high school students’
questions about American democratic institutions; state standards-aligned
curricula; in-depth analysis by constitutional scholars and legal experts;
downloadable reference books; and multimedia programs and games.

Tennessee History eKnowledgebase

Now your students have a research library of Tennessee history. This
eKnowledgebase had the complete Goodspeed's History of Tennesee, Ramsey's
Annals of Tennessee and thousands of pages of classical works. They are in
searchable PDF format, with amazing search powers.

This can be placed on any computer in K-12 schools teaching Tennessee
history. Teachers teaching Tennessee history and students taking their courses
can have it on their home computers.
Simply click on the link and it will take a while to download this large zipped file.
Dial-up is too slow to be practical. After it is downloaded unzip and store or
distribute. Be sure to watch the tutorial on searching.
Any questions can be addressed to tcarson@ewkm.net.

Question: Are changes coming for the Social Studies curriculum?
Answer: There are no major changes coming to the Social Studies curriculum due to the fact that new textbooks have just been written to the current standards. Minor changes in the form and appearance on the website may happen periodically, but the numbering system and content at each grade level will remain the same. Our social studies path and standards were aligned with the national standards of the NCSS in 2002 and it is the intent of the department to have textbooks closely aligned to these standards.
